Be the Brightest Bulb in the Pack!

Today’s Scripture…

1 John 3:1-3
1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Thoughts…

Do you ever feel like your non-believer family and friends roll their eyes when religion is brought up? Maybe you feel like you are shunned, made fun of, or not taken seriously. You might even feel tempted to shy away from showing God’s light around others. You are not alone. Jesus felt the same way. The world did not recognize Him, why would you think they would recognize us!

You are now a child of God. He gives you all the love and blessings you can ever imagine, and some you can’t. You are family. He would do anything for you including putting His son to death for your sins. So why do we put so much importance on what others think.? Why do we let them dim our light!

We will never satisfy this world. Good news! It isn’t our job. Our job is to just shine! Show them who God is by our love for them. God will handle the rest. They have to decide for themselves what they believe. They have to decide if and when they are ready to accept that same love and blessings you are filled with and shine bright.

Matthew 5:16 says it best, “Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven” (Message). So, go ahead and be the brightest bulb in the package! If they choose to still reject you, shine brighter. Don’t forget they rejected Jesus, the light of this world, too.

Prayer…

Lord remind me that I don’t have to dim my light when others are feeling blinded! ~amen
