Happy Endings

2 Corinthians 4:18
18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

I have spent my career working with students. Whether it was an academic or behavioral issue, as a Special Education teacher, I was tasked with getting to the root of their problem. I could not take for face value that they just couldn’t understand or were bad kids. I could not fix my eyes on what was seen. I needed to concentrate on what was not seen.

Often we are faced with problems. We get all caught up in the issues swirling around us. We see no way out and feel defeated, much like my students. When we step back and start concentrating on the unseen, what is really going on behind the scenes we find God standing there. He is reaching out waiting to help you. He reminds you that this is just one page in your story. All we have to do is let the Author do His work and our story will have a happy ending.

Lord, thank You for being the Author of my story. I know all the page says things are wrong, You have a happy ending waiting for me. ~amen

You are the Champ!

Psalms 18:31-34
31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? 32 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

Sometimes I think we give in way to easy. I trained for a marathon (26.2 miles) a few years ago and I have trained to ride century bike rides (100 miles.) At first glance, those numbers are intimidating. Let me tell you, during them they can be overwhelming and intimidating too. However, you have no idea how strong you are until you push through. We are all a lot stronger than we think.

This goes for our spiritual life also. We think we are at out ropes end and just can’t take one more thing. However, we have all the strength we need in Christ. He fills us up and is our secure rock to stand upon when all the Earth around us is shaking. We just have to tap into His strength.

So next time Satan comes around like a bully and picks a fight, you just stretch those muscles and show him just who he is really going up against. I promise that big chicken will run!

Thank You Lord for being my personal trainer against that big bully, Satan! ~amen

Can WE Talk?

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

One thing some men do not understand about women is most of the time when we have a problem we don’t necessarily want it fixed. We have this need to just be heard. I am not trying to man bash here at all. Men tend to have the need to always problem solve and fix things. That is a very good thing. It just isn’t so great when we need someone to just listen.

For me, the way I solve my problems is to just unload everything in my head. I don’t usually need someone to fix things for me, I just want them to listen to me ramble on so I can hear myself think things through.

The great thing about God is that I can go to Him and ramble about anything and everything at anytime.. I know no matter what I say, when I am done He is still there. He still loves me. He has plans for me but He knows me and knows that I have questions, lots of questions. He is ready to hear them all. Yes, I am sure sometimes He may giggle at me and want to tell me, “Are you through trying to figure it all out and ready to listen to My thoughts and plans?” My answer is yes, but thanks for letting me ramble on .

Lord, thank You for always being there to listen to me ramble on with my thoughts. ~amen

No Worries

Matthew 6:34
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

God never said, don’t put into your retirement, don’t pay off your bills, or don;t make to do lists or plans for the future. He just said don’t worry about them. Don’t fret over them. You do what you can today and leave the rest to Him for tomorrow. No matter how many what-if scenarios you play in your mind, it won’t change the actual outcome. Just ask the captain and engineer of the Titanic!

We can’t change yesterday, we can only learn from our mistakes and move on. We can’t plan and worry about tomorrow, we can only do what we can today. So let the past and future go. Concentrate on God’s will shining on the step you are taking right now.

Lord, thank you for handling my past and future so I can enjoy today. ~amen

Tie a Know

Psalms 118:13-14
13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. 14 The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.

The quote, “When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on,” was first attributed to Thomas Jefferson. However, I think King David may have inspired it. Just look at today’s verse.

I have been in many situations where I felt I was dangling over the cliff. I saw no way out of my situation. King David found himself in a few of those also. He knew exactly what to do when he got there. He reached out to God and then hung on tight until he got his answer. He knew exactly where his strength to hang on came from and who was coming to save him.

David isn’t the owner of this power. He doesn’t have a corner on the market. His strength comes from the same place you get yours. God is waiting to help you out. So, tie that knot and hang on tight. God is working on pulling you up!

Lord thank Your for your strength You so generously provide. ~amen

Praying for You

2 Thessalonians 3:3-5
3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Confession time! I read this and walked away and prayed for awhile because I just couldn’t figure out what God wanted me to say about it. Not, that I don’t always pray about my bible studies, I do. However, this time I had to pray for quite awhile. It just wasn’t coming or at least I thought it wasn’t. I don’t think I was listening.

I realized after some time with God, there wasn’t anything I needed to say here. It was one of those days I just needed to pray these verses. So if you will allow me…

Lord, thank you for being faithful and stregthening and protecting us from the evil one. Let my readers know that I have confidence in the You that they are doing and will continue to do the things You commanded them. Lord please direct all of our hearts into Your love and Christ’s perseverance. ~Amen.

Lord thank you for letting us pray Your word and knowing You are faithful to listen! ~amen

I Want my Unicorn!

John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

News FlasH: This just in! Your World Is Not Going to be All Rainbows and Unicorns! I know you have heard me say that before, but I need to be reminded of it. We live in the Facebook-Instagram perfect house, kids, and vacations world. Then we look up from those screens and often get depressed. Maybe it is just me. I forget how blessed I really am. I need a wake-up call.

First of all, you have no idea the story behind those pictures. That life is not perfect either. They have their own problems. Troubles are not particular about your color, sex, religion, or financial status. They will come and they sometimes will be quite devastating. Boy, I am just the bearer of good news today aren’t I? Actually, I am!

We have a way to look for the rainbow and unicorns even in the darkest of times. Jesus died for us and was resurrected. He took all the power away from troubles. Satan can huff and puff all he wants, but he will NEVER blow your house down! So excuse me while I ride off over the rainbow on my unicorn!

Lord, you are my rainbows and unicorns in the middle of this dark world! ~amen

Rescue Me!

2 Timothy 4:18
18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I know this doesn’t sound comforting but God will rescue you. The reason it may not sound exactly comforting is because He doesn’t say how or when, but He will. The other reason is because in order to be rescued, you must be going through something. Ok, so maybe it did sound comforting until, I pointed that out…sorry!

Let us not forget the real promise here though. We are not alone in all of this. You do have someone looking out for you. You will be rescued. Most important than that is there is nothing Satan and his little minions can cook up that will win. You will not be defeated. The battle is already won. In the end, You will be in Heaven with God forever and ever. Oh yes, and don’t forget Satan won’t be so lucky!

Thank you Lord for rescuing me! ~amen

Ditch Pride

Mark 12:29-31
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Stop! Listen! Think! Then you may open your mouth. When you open your mouth make sure what comes out is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, full of good report and virtue. Do you know the easiest way to do that is make sure you follows the two commandments that cover everything:

1. Love the Lord with everything you got.
2. Love everyone as yourself

Oh if the world could just remember these two rules before saying, showing, telling or even posting anything. Can you imagine? What a wonderful world this would be! If we could just learn to get rid of our pride. Take a moment and remember PRIDE stands for Polite, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence.
When you take the time to make sure you Love the lord with all your heart, sould, mind, and strength and love others above yourself, you can make a difference in your world.

Lord, help me swallow my fears and put you and others first. ~amen

H.O.P.E.

Psalms 31:24
24 Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.

Two of my favorite acronyms for H.O.P.E. are
Hearing Other People’s Experiences and Hold on Peace Exists. I believe they both are derived from Alcoholic’s Anonymous. To me they both represent God and Christianity.

As Christians it is so awesome to reach out and share our testimonies. We get to tell people of how wonderful or God is. I also find it just as encouraging to hear other people’s experiences. It builds and makes your hope all that much stronger to find you are not alone on this road many have traveled it before and will in the future.

Our sharing also builds art strength so we can take heart. We know that if we just to hold on peace exists. God has made this promise to us. Tomorrow will come. Rainbows and unicorns may not appear right away, but I promise the sun will shine again.

So keep your ears open. Continue to hear other people’s experience. Never forget just hold on peace exists. This will help us be strong and take hear. We can put our hope in the Lord.

My hope is in you lord! You will never let me down. ~Amen
