Judgement without Mercy

James 2:12-13
12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

What is judgement without mercy? It is pure hypocritical evil is what it is! It is petty and filled with hatred or vengeance. It is given out with the soul purpose of punishment. There is no thought given to circumstances. There is no thought of forgiveness and there is no thoughts of helping make corrections. This is not a judgment I ever want to be a part of on either side.

Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Notice it is in your power to punish or harm, but you choose not to deliver it. This should sound familiar because you are standing in that place. By every right God has the power to punish you for all of your sins. However, He is a merciful God. He loved you so much He sent his son to take that punishment for you. He lovingly found an out for you. If God has chosen to show you mercy, why do you think it is OK to judge someone else?

Lord thank You for showing me mercy. Help me pass this mercy onto others. ~amen

Going in Blind

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I am a huge fan of Disney’s Mighty Ducks. I recently finished the new series on Disney+. In one episode, the kids learned to close their eyes, listen, feel, and trust each other to make a hockey play. When I read today’s verse, it reminded me of that episode.

When we learn to trust Jesus, we will walk into the darkness with no fear. No matter how dark it looks, He will light our path. The thing is we have to trust Him and keep walking.

I have lived a few years. No, I am not telling you my age…lol. If there is one thing I have learned, God often only lights the step you are on currently. He doesn’t usually show you the entire path ahead of you. He might leave a breadcrumb or two, but not the full map. So, we must learn to just close our eyes, listen, feel, and trust Him! Then, keep walking!

Lord, I choose to listen, feel and trust You. ~amen

Bring On The Tantrum!

Romans 6:12
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Most people live with this attitude of “You can’t make me!” We walk around with our inner two-year-old stomping and pouting. Sometimes that child gets out and we stomp and snort, jump up on our high horse or soapbox and spout off. I am thankful for this emotion when justice needs to be met. I am not so proud of it when I just want things my way.

There is one time in our Christian walk that we need to let the child fly free! Take your stand on AND against letting your sinful desires control you. Please bring on that full blown temper tantrum You fight for your God given rights and freedoms.

You are not a slave. You have been born into a royal priesthood! You are a child of a King, not a servant, not a friend, but a child. Start acting like it. Let that child out!

Lord, I am sorry for giving in to my sins. Thank you for giving me strength to fight them. ~ amen

Rescue Me

Psalms 91:14-15
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

If you were to open my bible to Psalm 91, you would find it all highlighted. To me, it is the ultimate pep talk. That is exactly what David was doing. He was praying to and praising God. At the same time, he was giving himself a pep talk.

In chapter 90, David was pleading to God for help in the midst of his pain and suffering. Now in 91, he reminds himself just who it is he serves. He serves a God who will answer our prayers and be with us in our trouble. He is God that loves us and comes to our rescue. He will not come in our timing or by our plans. No! His timing is so much better. His plans are perfect.

So if you find yourself today in the middle of a mess, just send out the S.O.S. Then, sit back, take a breath, and give yourself a pep talk. God has a plan and He is working on it. Your Hero is about to burst through and rescue you!

Lord thank You for coming to my rescue! ~amen

Choose Your Master Wisely

2 Peter 2:19
They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

“People are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” In my bible this verse has a footnote connecting to Romans 6:16-19. Paul is telling the Christians in Rome that they needed to be careful of whom or what they give themselves over to and become a slave.

You are free and willing to make whatever choice you want. We spoke recently though on how not all choices are good ones. You are also free to choose your master but not all masters are equal. You need to make the choice between slaves of sin which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness (Romans 6:16). The choice is yours!

That choice has been given to you by God. You are no longer a slave to sin. You no longer are chained by death. Satan has no hold on you. When you claimed your allegiance to God, you were set free! Free to make a choice. What will your choice be? Do you give in to your old self or do you choose to follow obedience and allegiance to the One who set you free!

Lord, I choose to be follow you and be a slave to the One who set me free! ~amen

Pointers and Huggers

John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

I may step an a few toes here today. However, I really want to say, “ Sorry, not sorry!” I very much stand with Paul and his thoughts on legalism. There is nothing in this world worse than a hypocritical or legalistic Christian. The verse today proves that God did not send Jesus to points fingers at people and say, “You are wrong! You are wrong! You are wrong!”

It has never been our job to get into peoples faces and tell them how wrong they are. No! It is our place to tell them how much God loves them faults and all. Yes! He does love them right where they stand. It is not our job to say your hair is too short or too long, you are not wearing the right clothes, saying the right words, drinking or eating the right things or hanging out with the right people.

Jesus did not come to condemn the world. He came to show them love. I have been “THAT” Christian. You know what I found? I found three finger pointing right back at me! Don’t be a pointer, be a hugger.

Lord thank you for not being a pointer and being a hugger. ~amen

Live Your Life to the Fullest

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

So, I had this idea to Google live life to the fullest and a million pages of self-help lists came up. OK, maybe not a million, but you get the point. Everyone is looking for that one that thing that will fill their lives.

Christians aren’t any different. We often get into this rut. We know we are saved and going to be with God in Heaven one day, but what about today. We face trials and tribulations just like everyone else. Are we suppose to just keep grinding away, wishing and hoping for that someday? The answer is simple, NO!

Satan is trying to steal, kill and destroy any happiness and joy you may have here on Earth. Jesus came to give us life and a life to live. He wasn’t us to have love, peace, and joy while we are here on Earth, not just hope and faith in a future in Heaven with Him. So prepare to take you life back today and live it to the fullest!

Lord, today I choose to just have a life, but to live my life to its fullest! ~amen

Got You Six

Isaiah 58:8
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

The phrase “I’ve got your six” refers to having someone’s back. Watching out for them at an angle they cannot cover themselves. It actually comes from the old pilots reference of positions based on the clock. Six o’clock is at your back, while twelve o’clock is in front of you.

We serve a God who promises to have your Six AND seven through five! Today’s verse states He will go before you and be your rear guard. Not only that but He will flood your path with light. We have nothing to fear.

Satan is sneaky. I would even say he is the king of sneak attacks. However all we need to do is keep our eyes on God. Follow His steps and you will find your way. Let God have your six and all the rest of the numbers!

Lord thank You for having my six and covering all the angles of my life.

Bright Ideas

1 Corinthians 10: 23-24
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.

I think we have all seen those videos or even watched the TV shows where they show home videos. We laugh and laugh all while thinking the same thing, “At what point did you think the was going to be a good idea?” I admit to saying it to a kid or two and maybe even to an adult. OK, let’s get real, I have said it to myself. . . LOL! Seriously, just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should!

Today’s verses are telling us that exact same thing. This isn’t even necessarily talking about sinning. There are things we do day to day, that aren’t necessarily hurting anyone. However, we could make better choices that would help someone instead. The key is being open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Seek out wisdom when you make choices. Perhaps, He is saying pay for the person’s lunch behind you in the drive-thru. Perhaps he is asking you to stop and talk to someone or even just smile at them. It may not be something big, but it is always something you can say, “I know it was a bright idea!”

Lord, help me listen for Your prompting today. I want to make wise choices that leave me saying, “That was a bright idea!”

Proclaim!

go-into-the-whole-world-and-proclaim-the-good-news-to-every-creature-czAPCw-clipart – Daily Virtue

Acts 13:38-39
38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.

“The forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.” Proclaimed, what is meant by proclaimed? Proclaim means announce officially or publicly, to declare something one considers important with due emphasis. Can you think of anything more important to proclaim?

Under the law of Moses you were required to sacrifice things. Depending on the sin or the timing of the sin you would involve a priest to do the sacrifice for you at the temple. That meant taking time out of your life to get to the temple. Hello! Transportation was not readily available and distances were often vast.

We have been set free from that burden. There are no if you did this then you must do this anymore. Each of our sins is the same, with the same result and the same correctional move. The only traveling you will do is to your knees. This is not a freedom to sin, it is a freedom from sin. No more bondage. When we screw up, and you know we do, we take it to God. We make amends and we move on with our lives. Now that is worth proclaiming.

Lord thank You for freeing me from the bondage of sin. I know this not a freedom to sin, but a freedom from sin. ~amen
