Rest in the Lord

Psalms 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

I know I usually try to have something profound to say about the daily scripture. However, today I think the scripture definitely speaks for itself. What more can I say, except know this:

GOD IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU!

Lord, thank You for always looking out for me and being with me in every situation that comes. Thank You for never sleeping so I can! ~amen

No Point!

Genesis 4:8
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

It is so much easier to point a finger at others and their faults. We read today’s verse and say, “Well, I would never be a Cain.” Today I want you to take a second and look down at your hand. Do you see those three little fingers pointing right back at you?

There is a couple of things the bible has to say about judging others. They all revolve around, “Don’t!” The reason is because we have no room to speak. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23).

OK, I hear you saying, buy at least I haven’t murdered anyone. Well here is what the bible has to say about that. Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him (1 John 3:15) Ouch! Hate is like murder. Maybe you are perfect and never had hateful thoughts about someone else. If so, well kuddos to you. I happen to be among those who have thrown around that hate word.

I can bring you good news. For the wages of sin is death, but God offeres eternal life. He sent Jesus to die for ALL of Us and ALL of our sins. So from now on stretch out all your fingers, put your hands together in prayer and ask forgiveness for your own sins.

Lord, I am so grateful that You know we are sinners, yet You love us and forgive us when we screw up. ~amen

Don’t be a Scrooge

James 5:1-3
Warning to Rich Oppressors
1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

There is a story about a man who died and figured out a way to take his wealth with him. He packed it all up in a suitcase and stood before the pearly gates. St Peter checked him in and asked what has in the bag. With great pride the man opened up his suitcase to show St Peter all of his glory! St Peter stared for a moment rather confused. When the man asked him what was the matter, St Peter replied, “I didn’t know need more paving bricks.”

Our possessions are perfectly fine until we let them possess us. Money is not evil, it is what we do with it that can become evil. James was not speaking against the wealth of these men. He was speaking against the way they got it. They used people around them. They cheated and stole from everyone. Not one dime went to help anyone else but themselves.

It is not a sin to take care of our needs or even enjoy the fruits of our labor. However when God blesses you, pass along the blessings.

Thank You Lord for the many blessing You have given to me to share with others. ~amen

No Goodbyes

Hebrews 7:23-25
23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

There are many people who have died way too soon. Great men and women who were doing so much good in the world and were taken by tragedy or even natural causes. We were not ready to say goodbye. We never are truly ready to say goodbye to anyone.

Jesus was physically taken from this world, but His impact, love, and even His salvtion still live on and it always will. He is our forever priest going before God, interceding for us.

He is still walking this Earth today through you and me. We are His body, His hands and feet. We are His legacy. We are commissioned to go out and preach the gospel to the world. It is still Jesus’ job to continue saving souls. Together, we will make sure the world knows they will never have to says goodbye to God!

Lord, help me be the legacy you left, so others come to know You! ~amen

Fixed Point

Psalms 10:16
The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.

When ballerinas and ice skaters do those beautiful spins, I want to throw up. No not because it isn’t beautiful, but because I can’t help thinking how dizzy I would be! Actually, I have done them on skates and I learned a very long time ago how to not throw up. The key is finding a fixed point. Keep your anchor in view and your mind will not spin out of control while your body remains turning round and round.

We have an anchor point when our world is spinning our of control. God is a fix point. He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Even though everything around you is changing and moving, God is not. Just keep your eyes on Him and your mind will stay planted and not get dizzy as the world spins on!

Lord thank You for being my fixed point as the world spins on!

Graduation Day is Coming

James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer, but life is one long string of trials that we must endure. I know that sounds very pessimistic. I promise I am not being a pessimist.. Trials don’t have to always be bad things.

Think back to your childhood. School was most definitely a trial. However, through it you learned math and how to read and write. You made some friendships and found a grown up or two that cared about you. No, it was not all unicorns and rainbows, but you can remember some fond times, even if it was just lunch and recess..lol!

The point is life is going to be filled with ups and downs. Our job is to just keeping going through. In the end, we will be rewarded. Graduation is around the corner!

Lord, thank You for not only rewarding me at the end of my life, but through every trial in front of me. ~amen

Signal Your Superhero

Psalms 50:15
and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.

I recently painted a picture of Batman for my grandson. I remember watching the old TV series as a child. Whenever there was trouble in the city, Commissioner Gordon through up the Bat Signal or picked up the Bat Phone. Soon Batman and Robin were on the job to right any wrongs and protect the city from the villain.

We have Jesus on the mainline, just like the song by that title from Ry Dooder. He is always on the line, The line is never busy. If you are feeling sick feeling or down and out I know Jesus is on that mainline. So, tell him what you want. “Call Him up and tell Him what you want.” He is ready to swoop in and fend off those villains that are threatening you.

Best part of your Jesus phone and Jesus Signal, they are portable. You don’t have to be in Commissioner Gordan’s office to find your Superhero. He goes with you everywhere!

Thank You Lord for being my ever present Superhero! ~amen

The Answer is on the Way

Daniel 10:12-13
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

Daniel was faithful even when he was waiting! Daniel prayed for three weeks over a vision he was given about an upcoming war. He was devastated and upset, but he knew where to turn. He was so worried about his people and he begged God to save them. Three weeks he prayed. Let me say that again, three weeks he continuously prayed. We pray once and then move on thinking God isn’t going to answer us. Daniel prayed for three weeks.

He finally got his answer. An angel came to him and assured him that God heard his prayer. He was dispatched at once, but Satan got in the way. Michael the Arc Angel had to come rescue him. Look at what God did just to make sure that the message got through.

Here is the greatest news of all, He is still in the exact same business today! He will do whatever it takes to get through to you also. He has an answer for your prayer. It is coming. So keep praying and wait. The answer is on the wings of an angel!

I have nothing to fear because you God have already sent the answer. ~amen

EVERYONE!

Acts 10:34-35
34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.

When I was a kid, we use to sing a song about how Jesus loved all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, they are all precious in His sight. Of course, to drive my mom crazy, we all changed it to red and yellow, pink and green they’re the strangest kids I’ve seen…LOL! The premise behind it all was still the same. The point is God is not a respecter of person.. It is your heart that matters, not on what it looks like on the outside.

Oh, and I would like to point out that it doesn’t matter what the name on the outside of the church says either! There is an old joke about a man walking through heaven with St Peter and he saw a sign that said, “Be quiet walking past here” Once past, he asked St Peter what that was about. St Peter replied, “Oh that is where the (ENTER RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION HERE) stay. They think they are the only ones here.”

I don’t care what color, race, religion, or even your past contains. God is willing to love everyone, even the pink and green kids! So are you ready to open your hearts and do the same?

Lord, thank You for loving everyone, including me. ~amen

Prayer Buddies

Matthew 18:19-20
19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

We were never meant to walk this world alone. We need to be careful who we choose out to walk with us. We need to seek wise council when are faced with a problem. However, God does encourage us to reach out. Find someone you can pray with. Offer to be that person who will pray with others.

Today’s verses are not offering that genie in a bottle solution to get your way. On the contrary they are telling you to pray about something together and God will answer you. He will show you His will. Two people together talking and praying offers time for both of you to come to a sound solution. If you are both seeking God with your whole hearts, you will confirm what you hear from Him to each other.

If you need that prayer partner, please know I am here. Lord surly knows I may need your prayer assistance some time too!

Thank you for all the prayer buddies and bless each of them Lord! ~amen
