Sweets for the Not So Sweet

Scripture

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Observation

Love – G26 ἀγαπάω agapaō, v. [143] [→ 27, 28]. to love; in the NT usually the active love of God for his Son and his people, and the active love his people are to have for God, each other, and even enemies

Application

Today I am going to be short and sweet, no pun intended for the candy box below. As a matter of fact, if I could give you chocolate I would. I know what I am about to say made me go, “Ouch” when God told me. So, here it goes. God still loves you after all of your mistakes. There is no one you meet today that God does not love mistakes and all. So, what gives you the right to hate them.

Here have a box of chocolates❤️
Prayers

Lord, I am sorry for holding hatred in my heart for my enemies. I know that I don’t have to agree with someone or accept what they did to me to love them. Loving someone means I have to pray for them and be Christ to them. I have to hope that they will find you. I have to remember YOU love everyone, mistakes and all.
