Hang on to Hope

Scripture

Romans 5:2-5

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Observation

Hope- G1828 ἐλπίς elpis, hope, expectation

Application

Hope is everything to me. It is the thread I have to hang on when my PTSD hits. When depression darkens everything around me, it is my rock that keeps me from trying to take my life again. Hopelessness surrounds me when those demons come to torment me. I choose to hang on to hope. I can’t see God. I can’t hear him and I can’t feel him. So why should I stand firm? Why should I hang on to my life? Because there is hope. I start with my faith that I am not alone. It helps me persevere. Soon, hope shines through. At the end of that rainbow is God sending his love.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for not letting go of me. I put my hope in you. Reach those today that feel alone. Let them no we are here. They are NEVER alone. ~Amen
