Thoughts…

All that have an interest in the new covenant, have a new heart and a new spirit, in order to their walking in newness of life. God would give a heart of flesh, a soft and tender heart, complying with his holy will. Renewing grace works as great a change in the soul, as the turning a dead stone into living flesh (Matthew Henery’s Concise Commentary).

I have a confession. I am not perfect. I know! I know! I have ruined my reputation…hahaha! Seriously, I struggle sometimes with automatically hardening my heart. I hear a certain person’s name, event, or topic and I go into defense mode. I have to remind myself this is not God’s heart. 

God has placed his heart in mine. His heart is firm but soft. His heart listens and loves. His heart guides and offers grace. His heart doesn’t turn away but waits with patience. 

God is the rock. He has replaced my heart of stone with a heart from the rock!

Thoughts…

Michael Hingson got up and went through his usual routine then left for work like every other day.  He was a sales manager for Fortune 500 company Quantum. He arrived at work went up to his office on the 78th floor and proceeds to finalize preparation for an upcoming seminar with his colleagues.

At 8:46 am, he heard a loud explosion and felt the building underneath his feet shake. Unbeknownst to him, debris was falling all around him. His coworkers began to panic as darkness and smoke filled the room. Michael, on the other hand, remained calm and reached down for Roselle his guide dog and gave the command ”forward!”

Roselle proceeded to lead her master and his coworkers down 1463 stairs and out of Tower 1 on September 11,  2001.

I challenge you to convince me that was NOT God making a way in the wilderness.  God is still making ways in the wilderness. He sees where you are and knows where He needs to lead you to get out. All you need to do is follow Him. He will get you through!

What would the world be like if we really understood the power we have? On July 25, 1945 orders we’re given for bombs to be loaded on planes and prepare to drop on Japan. On July 26, 1945, Japan was warned and given a final ultimatum. They were to surrender or they would see prompt and utter destruction. Japan didn’t think the US, Great Britain, and Canada had it in them. On August 6, they found out they were wrong. Three days later they still didn’t believe and a larger bomb was dropped. It was estimated that 226,000 lives were lost between both bombs. Japan had no idea the power the Allies held. 

Can I let you in on a secret? Satan does not want Christians to know the power they have in themselves. God has placed two bombs inside each of us that would devastate Satan and his plans. Those bombs are the Holy Spirit and grace. 

Grace sets us free from Satan. We no longer owe him anything. He is not our Master. We do not answer to him. The Holy Spirit gives us the tools to fight back. We can throw other bombs right back at him and put him in his place. We can take our lives back! We have the power to blow Satan apart. He cannot stand in the light of God. He has been given his ultimatum. Now prepare to drop your bombs!

Have you ever felt unappreciated? I can think of a lot of jobs where people are not thanked nearly enough. One particular group in NYC decided enough was enough. In Febuary, 1968, the sanitation department walked out. They had worked without a contract for six months and decided they were done. The city wouldn’t give them a raise, so they went on strike. For nine days, no one picked up trash that eventually piled up to 100,000 tons. The entire city began to look like garbage dump.

Everyone may deserve appropriate pay, a pat on the back or even a simple thank you, but we don’t always get it. When we don’t we can sulk about it. We can let the trash pile up in our heart. We can even get angry and strike out against people…OR…we can simply say, ”The work is done. What we were told to do, we did” (Like 17:10, MSG).

You see when we keep our eyes on God and remember we are only out to please HIm, we will find our appreciation. Our real rewards come from God. It is from Him one day after all of our hard work is done we will hear, ”Well done, good and faithful servant” (Mark 25:23, NIV).

Hi, my name is Tabetha and I am a re-hasher! I replay events over and over and over in my mind. I play the what-if game. I play the I should have game. I even play put words in the mouths of other people game. I am just so sure I can figure out the puzzle and fund a solution to make it better or even all go away. 

Sometimes I do this to figure out what I did wrong. Honestly moment though, most of the time I spend trying to prove I am right or justify my actions. What I really need to do is let it go!

Isaiah specifically says, ”don’t dwell on the past.” What’s done is done. God is moving on. He has plans for us. We can’t control the last, but. God controls the future. He is working on something. We need to just move in with Him.

History is already in the books. There is no need to break it down and give it your full attention. God is on the move, catch up with him!

Everything to Succeed

1 John 2:27

Thoughts…

Believers stood secure against the false teaching of the antichrists because of three sources of strength. First, they had the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This provided the capacity to understand spiritual things. Second, they had made a personal commitment to the Christian message. Third, they were living in union with Jesus Christ. (HCB Commentary)

You have received an anointment. Do you fully understand or even believe that concept? The priests used to have oil poured over them to show that God had appointed them. We have been filled with the Holy Spirit. We have been given this power and he remains with us. There is nowhere we can go without him.  

God has not only given us a task, but He has also given us the power to accomplish the task. Then on top of that has agreed to work right beside you.

All I can say today is, WOW! I am not sure why this blew my mind, but it did. I mean as a student teacher supervisor, I give my students the tools they need. The state gives them the power to do the job, but neither of us walks every step of the way with them. God doesn’t teach you then send you on your way. He teaches you, empowers you them still walks the road with you! So how can you not succeed!

Am I a better judge and jury than God?

2 Corinthians 5:19
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. (NIV)


God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. (MSG)

Thoughts…

Some scholars believe that Paul’s use of the word “reconciliation” came from the ancient secular world, where it was a diplomatic term referring to the harmony established between enemies by peace treaties. As “Christ’s ambassadors” (v. 20), Christians are sent to announce that God has established a “peace treaty” with his enemies. (Archeological Study Bible)

Do you ever find it easier to forgive others than yourself? Old tapes often play in my head reminding me of past mistakes. I feel ashamed then I get angry at myself. How could I be that stupid? What was I thinking? Why did I do that? I am not a good person. I don’t deserve love or forgiveness.

God reconciled my sins through Christ. He no longer counts my past against me.  Am I greater than God? Do I know better than God? Am I a better judge and jury than God?

If God has reconciled me to himself and doesn’t count my past against me, what gives me the right?

Religion can strengthen our relationship with Christ, but it does not establish it!

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. (NIV)

Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. (MSG)

Thoughts…

The Greek termstoicheia, translated “basic principles of this world” in this context denotes false, worldly, elementary teachings. Paul was counteracting the Colossian heresy, which, in part, taught that for salvation one needed to combine faith in Christ with secret knowledge and with human regulations concerning such physical and external practices as circumcision, eating and drinking and observance of the religious festivals. (Archeological Study Bible).

Today’s word is very simple. Don’t get trapped in legalese. The thief on the cross died without observing any traditions, eating certain foods or wearing certain clothing and met Jesus in paradise. I am not saying these observances are bad, I am just saying trust that the only way to Heaven is accepting Jesus as your savior. There is no more and no less.

Thoughts…

Cast “all you care;” personal cares, family cares, cares for the present, and cares for the future, for yourselves, for others, for the church, on God. These are burdensome, and often very sinful, when they arise from unbelief and distrust, when they torture and distract the mind, unfit us for duties, and hinder our delight in the service of God(Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary).

Cast EVERY care on God. There is no care too small or too big. Cast every single one of them. They are all burdens that slow us down or distract us. The little ones can quickly turn into big ones. I am always praying for a good parking space when the weather is nasty! I also take time to praise God and thank him when one opens up for me. Joyce Meyer talked about praying for a good hair day or a good score while bowling. When God says everything, He means it. 

Why not cast all your cares on a God that asks you to do so? What do you lose by asking? Think of all you could gain!

Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: (MSG)

Notice ”The apostle says not (remarks CALVIN nobly) “What,” but “Who,” just as if all creatures and all afflictions were so many gladiators taking arms against the Christians” (Jamieson, Fausser, and Brown Commentary).

I find it fascinating that this verse starts with who. Have you been in situations where people tried to tear you apart to other people? Some have believed their lies and they walked out of your life. Let me assure you right now…GOD WILL NOT WALKOUT! I don’t care if the nasty little rumors are true. He will not leave you. He is always there waiting for you right by your side. There is nowhere you can go that He is not there (Psalm 139:7). They is no sin that you can do that will make God turn his back on you. Like the prodigal son’s father, he is standing in the driveway with open arms waiting for you to run into them. 

No one, not even you, can separate you from God’s love. He is there waiting for you to call on Him, so he can wrap His love and grace around you and bring you home.
