Angry Gong!

1 Corinthians 13:1

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

OK, so today is an honesty moment with me that I am not so proud of. Yesterday was NOT a great day. My husband came home in a mood and I was not in the mood to play the victim. I was not in the mood to play the peacekeeper. I was not in the mood to walk around on eggshells until he got himself back together. Nope, I was in attack mode. I was ready to chew him up and spit him out. OK, so maybe I was in a little bit of a mood too. . . LOL!

To keep from killing each other we chose our corners of the house and stayed there. He slept it off. Me? I brewed. I mean seriously, dark roast all the way! Every time I thought I was doing better and wanted to go check on him, the Holy Spirit checked me. Even if the words I was going to use were kind and concerned, the disdain in my voice conveyed the lack of love in my heart right then.

Thank goodness several hours later, we were able to curl up on the couch and watch TV together giggling and smiling. Yes, once again our voices reflected the love we had for each other. There were no more resounding gongs or clanging cymbals.

Lord, thank You for prompting me to stay put until my heart matched my words. ~amen
