No Condemnation

John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

If God didn’t send Jesus to condemn us why do we go around condemning ourselves? The old saying about how we are our biggest critiques is so true. The way I speak to myself sometimes is down right abusive. I would never let someone else speak to me the way. There are even times when I can say I hate myself and grace is the farthest thing from my mind.

It is in those moments, I can hear God saying, “Please don’t talk to my child that way.” No matter what I may have done, I do not deserve to be belittled or beat up. Yes, I am a sinner and by all accounts I deserve to be condemned, but God sent Jesus to die for that sin. It brought grace to cover and save me from that condemnation.

God loved me so much, that He sent His one and only Son. I beleive in Him, so I will not perish, but have eternal life. Jesus wasn’t sent to condemn me, but to save me. Today, I choose to love and not condemn myself.

Lord, thank You for dying for me. I will work to love myself as You love me. ~amen
