A Place in the Storm

Psalms 27:5
For in the day of trouble. he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Sometimes I need a place to not be OK. I need a place to just sit and rest, a place to just breathe. I need somewhere the storm can rage on around me, but I don’t have to deal with it right now.
God’s arms a place I can run and find that safety. It doesn’t mean all my troubles will magically go away. It doesn’t mean I will all of a sudden see sunshine and rainbows. His arms are just a place I can close my eyes and take a deep breath. I can cry and even throw a tantrum if I need. His arms are where I am able to just let go of all the control and recognize I do not have to have it all together right now.
I don’t know what you are going through today, but I do know where you can go if you need to be just held. God and i would be happy to put on a pot a tea and sit with you. We can sit in silence and just let the storm rage on while you find rest.

Lord thank you for being my resting spot when the world is too much for me to handle. ~amen

We Are the Champions

Psalms 27:1-3
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

It is a wonderful thing to think we have God on our side. He saved us and is our ever present protector. We have nothing to fear in this life. So why when we look at the world around us we want to say, “So where are you Lord?” Believe me you are not the only one who has these thoughts.

I think we read these verses wrong. We forget who the real enemy is. Believe it or not, it is not that politician or world power trying to push their agenda. Heck it isn’t that guy at work or your next door neighbor. Yes, these all seem to mount up against us and tare us apart somedays. However, it is the evil behind these people that is the real problem.

What these verses are really telling us is we have nothing to fear because Satan has already been defeated. No matter what we face here on Earth, we will be with God in Heaven. In other words SPOILER ALERT the end of book says, WE WIN!!!!

Thank you Lord for making us victorious by your blood! ~amen

Your Boots Were Made for Walking

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Joyce Meyer says, “New level, new devil!” When we are following Christ and using our gifts, Satan will not let up. There is no place where we have time to just set back, put our feet up, and let our guard down. The harder you work the harder Satan works.

That should make you happy not worried, angry or sad. You see it means you are irritating Satan. The more you are working, the more strength, comfort and peace God can shine through you. It is these times where Satan is pushing back so hard, you feel completely weak, that God swoops in and fights for you.

I am going out on a limb here. If Satan isn’t poking his nose in your life, you may want to wonder why. Remember, your boots were made for walking and that’s just what you’ll do. Don’t you dare let Satan walk all over you!

Thank you Lord that whenever I am weak You are always strong and together we can fight the good fight. ~amen

Meditation isn’t just for Yoga

Joshua 1:8
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

I grew up thinking that meditation was some sort of eastern culture only. It was part of another religion and I should not be doing that! If you believe that, I am not here to step on your toes. I am here to remind you that God said to meditate on His word. The idea of meditation is not wrong. It is what you meditate on that becomes the issue.

With my PTSD and anxiety, taking a few minutes of the day to “reset” is very beneficial. I recently heard someone say meditations isn’t to find peace and quiet, it is to connect to what is already there. I feel the same way because when I stop to meditate I use the time to check in with God.

Yes, you read that correctly. I set still, close my eyes and breath deep and evenly. I begin to speak with God. I meditate on Him and His word. It is a way of tuning out the world and tuning in to Him. I will warn you. It isn’t easy. Satan will throw anything he can at you to stop you. To me that makes it all the more worth it though.

So, I hope you will excuse me! I am going to go hit my yoga matt. It is time to have a chat with God!

I want to thank your Lord for out quiet time together. ~Amen

I Am a Warrior

2 Timothy 1:7
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Power, love , and self-discipline, what more could we ask for this side of grace and salvation? We have it all. We just need to learn how to use them. Then you need to go out and actually use them.

You have the best equipped arsenal at your fingertips just waiting to be used. It is always there and will get you through anything. So, where is the catch? I just said it. It will get you through everything. I didn’t say it will keep you out of the battle.

God knew and knows every obstacle, temptation and battle we must forge our way through. He has not left us defenseless. However, even the greatest most powerful army in the world is useless if they don’t pick up their weapons and fight.

You don’t need anyone to come in and save the day. God already sent the savior. Now you just need to take your weapons He handed to you and keep up the good fight!

Lord thank you for my arsenal. Make the best warrior I can be for you! ~amen

Go Team!

1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.

The best defense is a good offense is usually said by coaches, players and sports fans alike. However it was first said by George Washington in 1799, “…offensive operations, often times, is the surest, if not the only means of defense.” Hmmm…maybe he wasn’t the first to say it. I could argue that Paul had that idea in mind when he said “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”

We are not to just wait around for life to come at us. We are to prepare by staying strong in our faith. We spend time in the word, praying, speaking with other Christians and just plain drawing nearer to God. This will make you courageous and strong.

That last part is probably the most important. When you do have to attack make sure you are doing it out of love. Don’t let your pride get in the way. Pride is the true root of every sin and love is the answer to everyone of them! So go out on the offense with LOVE!

Thank You Lord for the best playbook in the world that is prepared for all of the other teams tactics. ~Amen

You are a Star!

1 Corinthians 10:12
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

Konstantin Stanislavski once said, “There are no small parts just small actors.” Believe me being part of several shows, that is so true. No one is anymore important than anyone else in theater. If anyone is missing, from the main lead to the person who cleans up after the crowds have gone, it will be noticed.

Some people think the Paster is the most important position in the church, as his wife let me say, “Nope!” There are days that boy wouldn’t even make it there if it wasn’t for this wife making sure he gets out the door on time with everything in hand. Don’t get me started on the fact that I am his sound and video crew…LOL!

My point is, there is no person in this world that is anymore important to God than you! We all have our place in the. Kingdom. No job we do is too small or too big for that matter. We are always the star on God’s stage! Our job is to help others shine!

Lord thank you for letting me be your star that helps others shine bright! ~amen

Super Dad!

Exodus 15:2
2 “The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

When you were a kid did you ever get into one of those arguments of “My daddy can beat your daddy”? I even remember jumping rope to, “My mother hit your mother in the nose. What color was the blood.” Come to think of it, we had some pretty warped things to jump rope or do hand games to…LOL! Did you know you can play that game with your troubles or even those little rotten demon that enter your life? This time you can WIN!

There is not a trouble that is bigger than your Father in Heaven. You can face down any problem with confidence that you have the strength to take it down. God is your strength and your defense. Don’t get me wrong you will go through many battles in your life, but you will get through. You will be victorious over every trap Satan sets before you and every weapon he throws at you. Your Daddy is bigger than him!

Lord thank you for being my strength and my defense! Than you for being my Father.. ~amen

Hope Gives You Wings

Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Today’s verse if my mother’s favorite. I will have to admit it got me through many marathon training sessions and even the marathon itself! Yes, I know it is not necessarily talking literally, but any chance to use God’s word is a good one!

Hope is the one thing we Christians have that keeps us coming back. It makes us pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again. We can face tomorrow because of the hope we have in God. We know that our situation today will not last forever. God is always smiling on us and lifting us up with His right hand.

So you see physically, emotionally, or spiritually, our strength is renewed because of our hope. Our hope that God has something better and if we keep on keeping on we will prevail. One day we will be with Him in Heaven. We will soar on wings like eagles. We will no longer run and grow weary, Will Walk and not be faint!

Lord than you for rewarding my hope with filling me with your strength! ~amen

SOLD

Deuteronomy 31:8
8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

I opened my bible to read today’s verse and I came upon this note.

7/13/13 into the perfect situation. God has led us to an unbelievable deal on a home. I can’t believe how it is unfolding before my eyes. However when the doubts creep in I keep reminding mysefl of this verse. He truly is going before us because so far it has felt like I am walking on red carpet. It truly has been miraculous.

Just a month before I hd been turned down for a loan. A broker asked me to look at this house on a Sunday. She called the mortgage broken that afternoon. Within in a couple of hours I was on my way to purchasing my first home. I couldn’t believe it. I read that verse and knew God was opening all the right doors.

I don’t know what you are facing today, but know you are not facing it alone. God is going before you and is with you the entire way.

Lord, I appreciate how you were with me then, and I know you will always be there. ~amen
