Courage When Facing Fear

Today’s Scripture…

2 Timothy 1:7
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Thoughts

“This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions … let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt.

No, I am not getting on a political soapbox, I promise. Franklin D. Roosevelt was just the walking, talking example of our verse today. I would not be surprised to find that he had read this verse before writing his speech.

What both God and FDR are trying to say is we truly have nothing to fear. We have courage within us. We are so much stronger than we think. Remember greater is He that is in you than he that is in this world (1 John 4:4).

Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10‬) Just because we have to face fear, doesn’t mean we have to run from it. We can learn to do things afraid. That is real courage. We do that by concentrating all our strength on Him then watch God handle the rest.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for being my courage when I have to face fear. ~amen
