Death No More

Today’s Scripture…

1 Corinthians 15:53-57

53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thoughts…

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” These words sound like they stepped off some dramatic stage performance somewhere. Truth be-had they probably have been used in a play or two. I mean seriously, can’t you almost see the actor taking his last breath, while onlookers are crying.

That is a very valid sentiment. When we as Christians take our last breath here on Earth, we will take our next in Heaven. Death has no hold on us. Our goodbyes are merely see you later to our loved ones.

My inner child has a little different take on this verse. Her performance would be more like: [looking at Satan] “Satan, you lose. Nana-nana-boo-boo! Stick your head in doo-doo!” [Thumbs in ears, fingers up. Tongue stuck out]

Prayer…

Lord, Thank you for taking the death card from Satan ~amen
