Take My Hand

Today’s Scripture…

Philippians 4:5-7

5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Thoughts…

I have a passion for people who suffer with PTSD, anxiety and depression. Those who have hit the bottom of the pit and think their only way out is suicide. My purpose is to sit with them in that pit and hold on to them. Let them know they are not alone. Together we can climb out. Together we can fight against the darkness. But, until they are ready to fight back, I will sit with them, so they are not alone.

My purpose in life comes from traveling that road and setting in that very pit myself. That pit is no joke. It is dark, lonely, and things fly at you, whisper to you. You wonder if you will get out this time. If you will ever see the sun again.

When I find myself falling down that hole, I cling to verses like these in Philippians. One way, to counter it is by repeating these verses until I believe them. Then light starts to flicker and grow. Before long, it bursts through that pit and shows me the way out.

It is so dark you may not see Him, but you are NEVER alone in that pit. Keep searching. The Lord is right there by your side. He will hang on to you when you can’t hang on anymore.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for always hanging on to me! ~amen
