Thoughts…

Keep yourselves–not in your own strength, but “in the love of God,” that is, God’s love to you and all His believing children, the only guarantee for their being kept safe. Man’s need of watching is implied; at the same time he cannot keep himself, unless God in His love keep him (Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Commentary).

Do you have a security blanket? It doesn’t have to be a literal blanket. I mean do you have a place or an item that comforts you when you are sick or frustrated or need a time out. I have two things. I have my office and a literal blanket. These two items are my security blankets. When I need a timeout from the world and need to find God in a big way I run to them. They help me feel His love. They surround me and protect me from the world when I am feeling depleted. They keep me in His love.

Unfortunately, I often run to them because I have tried doing things on my own instead of seeking His strength first. I should have kept myself in His love.
