Falling to your knees

Romans 5:5
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

I’m one of those people who always believes the sun will come out tomorrow. Give me bad news and I fall to my knees. However, that is the best place to be I have found. That is where God does His best work! I always loved a quote I heard years ago. “Satan laughed as I fell to my knees during the battle, then he heard me praying!”

I am currently reading a Cozy Mystery called The Secret, Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams. A character is trying to help someone recover from a tragedy and tells her, “You have to sink to the very bottom, my child,” the woman had whispered in her lullaby voice. “After that, you can push off with both feet and start swimming toward the surface. You’re strong. You can get there. But it’s going to hurt. You have to clean out the wound before it can heal.” I found these words so powerful.

We are surrounded by tragedy every single day. There is no shame in taking a moment to fall to your knees. When you get there, remind yourself where your hope lies. You are strong and you will get there!

Thank you, Lord, for always meeting me on my knees! ~amen
