When the Wind Blows

Scripture

Romans 5:3-5

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Observation

Suffering – G2568 θλῖψις thlipsis, trouble, distress, oppression, tribulation

Application

I am training for an endurance bike ride right now. Hills and wind are my nemeses.  However, I know facing both of them and pedaling through is what makes me stronger. It builds my muscles to be ready to take on the next one. My walk with Christ is similar to my rides. Life is always throwing things. I have two choices. I can stop in my tracks, curl up and refuse to go any further or I can stand firm reach out to God and keep walking to persevere through life. You have it in you to keep going. You will never know how strong you are until the wind begins to blow and your strength is tested.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for being with me as the winds begin to blow.. ~Amen

Farming Starts at Home

Scripture

Galatians 6:8-10

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Observations

Destruction – G5785 φθορά phthora, perishableness, destruction, corruption

Applications

There is nothing wrong with self-care. When self-care becomes self-centered you are in for destruction! We take care of ourselves because we are gifts from God. We do it so we don’t become weary in doing good to all people. I am not saying we always put ourselves first. That is being self-centered. I am saying we take are of your bodies, spirits and mind. We take care of God’s temple. Sometimes it means saying no to others and that is OK. Don’t let others destroy the your farm. It needs to be ready to sow those seeds to reap an eternal life!

Prayers

Lord, thank you for this body you have given me. I am sorry I don’t always take care of it the way I should. I promise to be more conscious of my self-are so I am strong and ready to be a farmer! ~Amen
